of course, should you paint this, i'll take a cut of approx $500 of your $8-10,000 payday. heehee... okay-- $350. final offer. (or, just take me and jenni out for tofu and beer, whichever.)

and, of course, you're free to paint it however you want, but i kinda liked the skewed horizon line.

The horizon line made me think of an aerial photo or something, so it was kind of neat.

But as far as a painting goes, I don't think this will make it to my studio. It's a real nice photo, but I usually only paint things that have a direct meaning to me (places I've been, images that express something personal, etc). Any serious attempt I make at art takes time and effort, and the only way I make it through that challenge is by having something deeper invested in it. It's a real nice picture though. Have you tried painting yet? I only remember collages and stuff. Don't be intimidated if it seems hard, there is no harm in trying and failing. Every artist, and all art has some early stage (so it's not really failing, it's development). And wouldn't that be cool if we all became at least a little 'interdisciplinary'? ie: painters writing, writers painting, musicians painting, dentists painting (hehe).

actually, i think i'm going to take up dentistry instead.

there's actually this very funny story where canadian writer mordecai richler (jacob two-two, the apprenticeship of duddy kravitz, etc) was at a party, and some pompous doctor said to him: "once i retire from medicine, i'm going to take up writing books--like you do."

and richler said: "oh, that's funny you should say that, because once i retire from writing, i'm going to take up brain surgery."
